I take photos, go walking, and write software.
I'm Xavier Zhou. I build AI applications, backend services, and local-first tools.
Lately I've been working on three things: PicSpeak, an AI photo critique service; a third-party admin console for SeaweedFS; and MeetingRelay, which transcribes meetings on your own machine. On the backend I mostly use Python and FastAPI, on the web TypeScript and Next.js, and on the desktop Rust and Tauri; data lives in PostgreSQL, SQLite and S3-compatible storage.
When I have time I head out with an A7R3: mountains, gorges, the coast and cities. Each outing becomes a roll under Travel. The photo of Tengu-dake on the home page also went through my own PicSpeak for a critique.
